In Arica, in northern Chile, something unusual is taking shape within the national productive ecosystem: a true alliance among companies that understand development doesn’t happen in isolation. This is the “Arica, Capital of Omega‑3” cluster—an initiative led by Golden Omega, Benexia, NewScience, and Condensa—that aims to position the region as a global leader in high value-added Omega‑3.
But the cluster’s goal goes beyond promoting collaboration or enhancing competitiveness. Its purpose is to establish Arica as a global hub for Omega‑3 production, creating a one-of-a-kind ecosystem in Chile where marine and plant-based raw materials, internationally-oriented brands, and specialized industrial capabilities converge. Each company involved plays a key role in this value chain.
Golden Omega, based in Arica, is a national leader in extracting Omega‑3 from marine sources, exporting to demanding markets under the highest standards of purity and traceability. Benexia complements this with a plant-based Omega‑3 line derived from chia. Joining this network is NewScience, a Chilean nutraceutical brand with international presence, responsible for formulating consumer-ready products. Finally, Condensa completes the production cycle by designing and manufacturing the specialized packaging that ensures these products reach the market with quality, safety, and differentiation.
What makes this cluster unique is that most of the value chain takes place in Arica—from extraction to the production of the packaging for the final product. This creates a direct impact on the local economy: quality jobs, technology transfer, infrastructure investment, and productive links with local suppliers.
This collaborative effort also represents a new way of thinking about industrial development: one in which companies don’t compete in isolation, but rather work together under a shared vision, tackling challenges collectively and betting on regional positioning. Instead of looking toward the center of the country, this cluster looks outward—to the world.
At Condensa, we don’t just believe in this path—we are walking it. Being part of this cluster has allowed us to engage with other companies, identify shared challenges, and work on concrete solutions from Arica, for Arica. We know that regional growth requires sustained commitment, investment in local capabilities, and a real willingness to build networks. That’s why we’re here, actively collaborating—not as bystanders, but as part of an ecosystem striving for a more integrated, decentralized, and locally-rooted industry.
